3 Ways to Get Spooky with Cannabis this Halloweed

It’s that spooky, wonderful time of year! Halloween is great for people of all ages, even when we grow out of trick-or-treating. It’s a time for costume parties, scary movies, and all the candy to satisfy our cannabis-induced munchies.

We’re big fans of Halloween here at Greeley Gallery, and with our passion for marijuana, we combine the two to create Halloweed. We thought we’d share our three favorite ways to celebrate, in case you want to have your own Halloweed festivities.

Dress Up as a Cannabis Legend

Costumes are what makes Halloween so unique among the holidays, and Halloweed is no different. Instead of dressing as monsters, we dress up as our favorite cannabis legends, whether Snoop Dogg, Willie Nelson, Lady Gaga, or cannabis royalty Bob Marley. There are plenty to choose from! We source our costumes from thrift stores, take a friend with us, and have fun with it.

The best part is getting to freely smoke a joint or carry around a bong at a costume party as an accessory. Even better, this gives you the perfect opportunity to consume weed instead of alcohol. You’ll still have a great time at the party without waking up with a hangover like everyone else.

 Make Cannabis Treats

The treat part of trick-or-treating is another wonderful part of Halloween. Halloweed is the same, except our treats have cannabis in them. Whether candies, brownies, or cookies, our cannabis dispensary in north Portland has plenty to choose from. But it’s also a lot of fun and easy to make edibles at home.

If you don’t know where to begin, the first step in creating cannabis edibles is decarboxylation. Also known as decarbing, it is the process of activating the cannabinoids found within the cannabis plant. When the cannabis plant is heated, a chemical reaction converts the THCa compound into Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the cannabinoid in cannabis that is associated with weed’s psychoactive effects.

Simply preheat your oven to about 220 Fahrenheit. Next, grab a baking sheet and a piece of parchment paper. Break up your cannabis flower into very small pieces and scatter it on the sheet. Bake your weed for about 30 to 40 minutes for the debarb process to take effect, and then you’re done! Add some to brownie or cookie mix and follow the box directions as usual. Then you can use Halloween-themed cookie cutters to make themed goodies.

Horror Movies

It’s not Halloween without watching something scary. Whether it’s an old-school Halloween classic like Hocus Pocus, slasher movies like Friday the 13th, or any of the Screams, now is the time to watch them.

Halloweed takes scary movies to the next level by watching them high, which makes them even scarier! Perhaps you could enjoy one of your homemade edibles and have a scary movie marathon with friends! Or, if you’re courageous, you could check out one of Portland’s notorious haunted houses.

Perspective Shift

Halloween is an awesome holiday where we find thrills in being scared, dine on sweets until we grow sick, and pretend to be someone or something else for a night. Halloweed is the same, but we get to do it all while high on cannabis. You’ll find everything you need to celebrate Halloweed right here at Greeley Gallery. We provide only the highest quality cannabis products, from dried cannabis flower to edibles and THC-infused beverages.

That said, we recommend using caution. Make sure you know your cannabis tolerance beforehand because the high from cannabis can elevate your experiences, but getting too high can result in adverse effects, such as anxiety or paranoia, which are not fun to experience on a holiday like Halloween. Also, make sure you separate and store your marijuana-infused treats from regular sweets. It’s Halloween, after all, and candy is abundant. No one wants a child to end up with the wrong kind.

Stop by our cannabis dispensary, located on the corner of Greeley Ave and Rosa Parks. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff is available to answer any questions you have or to make recommendations every day between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m.
